Habitat House

As most of you know, the church will be sponsoring and building a Habitat House here in State College. Sign up for workdays at church – sign up sheets are located in the hallway between the Social Hall and WestminsterRoom. You can also contact us directly via e-mail for more information or to sign up.Work hours are ususally 8:00am-4:00pm.

Directions to the Thompson Place Work Site:

Heading west on Business Route 322 (or North Atherton Street), go past North Atherton Place WalMart.  You will see the Penn State Mobile Home Park on theleft and the Northwest Savings Bank on the right. At this traffic light, turn right and go to the stop sign. Go straight onto Woodycrest. The work site is o nthe left-hand side. Look for the Habitat work trailers.

The leadership roles for the SCPC House-build have been set in place, but we need a lot of hands to make the project happen!  Here's a list of ways that everyone can be involved.

Sign up for:

1.  Building volunteers

2.  Food volunteers

3.  Babysitting duties

4.  Prayer support

5.  Advertising help

6.  Donations

7.  Bring a lawn chair and watch!

If you want to volunteer, please e-mail us or sign up on the bulletin board in the hallway outside Westminster Hall.  To donate and help us raise our $65,000 for building materials, simply write  check to "SCPC" and add "Habitat House" in the memo line. Thank you to all those who have made donations. To date, we've raised approximately $45,000, but we need to raise another $20,000.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a business or know someone who would like to be an"in kind" donor, or if you have questions, please contact Phil Spangler  via e-mail or call him at 814-867-1457.

Habitat House Leadership:
Volunteers – Casey Hovick

We wish for you a home – not a place of stone and wood, but an island of sanity and serenity in a frenzied world. We hope that this home is not just a place of private joy and retreat, but rather serves as a temple wherein the values of your life are generated and upheld. We hope that your home stands as a symbol of humans living together in love and peace, seeking truth and demanding social justice. We hope that your home encompasses the beauty of nature – that it has within it the elements of simplicity, exuberance, beauty, silence, color and a concordance with the rhythms of life. We wish for you a home with books and poetry and music – a home with all the things that represent the highest strivings of men and women.
