Sunday School

We Believe in Sunday School !

Our theme for the 2011-12 school year is, "Where The Bible Comes To Life!"  God's Word is read, taught, and shared with love, so that all of God's people can learn from what Scripture has to tell us !

Each Sunday we offer classes for Preschoolers through High School students.  We are presently using "Wee Believe" for our Pre Schoolers, and “We Believe” Curriculum (PCUSA) for our children up through Grade 3.  Children, youth, and teachers are always on a faith adventure as they learn about the Bible and our faith traditions in the Presbyterian Church. Together they will explore the Bible and it’s stories, as well as, “What does it mean to live in covenant with God and one another?”

Our older elementary children spend a year focusing on the Old Testament in 4th Grade, and the next year on the New Testament.  They use the PCUSA "Covenant People" curriculum.

Our middle school and high school students study varied topics of faith issues, the Bible, and the Presbyterian Church.  They will begin using "The Wired Word" this fall, which takes weekly current new stories, and enables the youth to discuss them from the perspective of our faith.

In these pictures, you see our Children and Worship Class (1st - 2nd Graders) and Creative Movement and Music Class which are both taught during the latter half of our 9 am worship service.

The Sunday School Classes start at 10:00 a.m. Children who go to a program, such as Creative Movement and Music or Children and Worship, are taken directly to their Sunday School classes by the teachers. Children in 3rd Grade and older should leave worship at the end of the service and go directly to their classes.

~ A Parenting Tip for Spiritual Nurturing ~

Think about the gifts each child offers and give thanks for them.

What is most challenging can often be turned around and seen as a gift.

For instance, a child who is slow moving and distracted easily,

while sometimes frustrating to you, this type of child might help you to stop

and see more of the God moments around you!

Pray: "O Beautiful Presence, open my eyes to the opportunities this day

has to offer. Amen."
