The Report of the Racial Reconciliation Team
Following the demonstrations in State College and elsewhere against racial injustice, our Racial Reconciliation Team became active again, meeting on a bi-weekly basis for much of the year. The focus of the team has been to educate ourselves and others about the both the history of and damage caused by racism and white supremacy.
We were heartened by the active stance of the Presbyterian Church (USA) at its General Assembly meeting as reported to us by Beth Farmer who served as a commissioner. We have read, studied, and listened to podcasts together. Several of our participants were able to share their own stories in Adult Education in October. We pray for those who have been oppressed, and we pray for the guidance of God’s Spirit as we seek to live in faithful communion with people of different races.
