Wandering Women's Hike
Date/Time: September 12, 2026 / 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Location:
All women of the church are invited to join the Wandering Women hike on Saturday, September 12 from 9:00 -11:30 a.m. Kim Phillips will be leading our time together. We will be exploring the Whipple Dam trail, an easy, 2 mile loop. We will meet at the church at 8:30 for those who want to car pool, or meet at the parking area near the beach at 9:00 a.m. Take Rt. 26 South over the mountain and about 1.5 miles from the bottom of the mountain turn left onto Whipple Dam Road. Follow the signs to the park for about a mile and turn left into the park. Take the first right to the parking area. Dress for the weather, bring water, and consider sunscreen and/or bug/tick spray. We usually walk in light rain, but will cancel if the weather is stormy. Look for any cancellation information due to weather conditions on SCPC Facebook and via email. Sleep in Heavenly Peace

This excellent organization builds beds and donates them (with mattresses and bedding) through on-the-ground organizations that serve kids and households in need in the broad area where they are built.
Ken Manno, Jerry Sawyer, and Scott Sesler have all participated independently at the usual Central PA build site (the Piper factory in Lock Haven). This build is IN STATE COLLEGE at Lowe’s, making it especially easy for us to participate — and making it harder for Lock Haven folks, so please do invite friends, neighbors, or colleagues.

This program caters to children aged 3 through 2nd grade. It includes engaging stories utilizing the Godly Play method, featuring biblical figures, a desert box, and interactive storytelling. On alternate Sundays, the focus will shift to activities such as movement, games, and music.
The program takes place during the worship service, starting right after the children’s message, in Room 11 or occasionally in Westminster Hall, both located on the lower level. -

Sacred Pause is a welcoming contemporary worship and reflection group that gathers to nurture faith, community, and spiritual growth. Led by Zack Maser, each gathering includes a time of contemporary worship followed by a time of individual and group reflection and sharing using a short reading, poem, scripture passage, or other meaningful resource. All are welcome to participate in singing, silence, playing an instrument, movement, or whatever way feels right. Whether you are seeking a deeper spiritual rhythm, meaningful connection, or simply a peaceful place to pause, this group offers an opportunity to encounter God through worship, reflection, and authentic community. Sacred Pause meets in Westminster Hall the second Sunday of each month for one hour, beginning at 6:30 PM. -

Scout 32 Troop Meeting
Date/Time: September 14, 2026 / 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Westminster Hall
Troop 32 boys and girls troops are Scout-led, meaning that the Scouts plan and run the program, developing their leadership, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills along the way. The troops participate in monthly camping trips, an annual week-long summer camp, and high adventure trips every other year. Recent special activities include canoeing in the Algonquin region of Canada (2022), backpacking in West Virginia (2023), and a week-long bike trip along the C&O Canal (2024). -
Virtual Centering Prayer

The group gathers virtually every Monday from 7:00–7:30 pm on Zoom. All are welcome to join using this link: Join Centering Prayer on Zoom
Rooted in the ancient Christian tradition of the Desert Fathers and Mothers, Centering Prayer creates space for silent, receptive prayer. Rather than replacing other forms of prayer, it can deepen them by helping us move from active prayer into a time of simply resting in God’s presence.
No previous experience is needed. Whether Centering Prayer is already part of your spiritual practice or something you are curious to explore, you are welcome to join us.

SMART Work Day

SMART stands for SCPC Maintenance And Repair Team. We are a group of handywomen and men who do small jobs around our church and grounds to keep it looking good and safe. We do painting, wall repair, weeding, hedge trimming, pew repair, staining of woodwork, and other projects. We meet once a month on the third Tuesday for about three hours starting at 9 AM. LOGOS Klondike Kickoff

Men's Covenant Group

Chancel Choir Rehearsal

Our schedule is rehearsals on Thursday evenings from 7–8:30 pm and most Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. Is it okay if you can’t come every Sunday or Thursday? Of course! Young at Heart is a monthly gathering for individuals 55 and older, typically held on the fourth Friday of each month. Due to the PennState Homecoming Parade, this month’s gathering will be held on Friday, September 18.

Each Tuesday in September-April, we build multi-generational relationships between participants and church volunteers as we prepare to lead worship together, study God's Word, play together, and share a meal. Little LOGOS

For those who are volunteering, we have a program called "Little LOGOS" (childcare for up to Kindergarten age) for your younger children while you are here helping out with the older kids! We have playtime, activities, and dinner for these little ones starting at 4 pm and going until 7 pm. Our paid caregivers take care of them in Room 101. -
Chrysalis Cocoon Time

Deacons' Event - Big Springs

Make plans to join the SCPC Deacons for the church social event of the year! On Monday, September 28th, we’re again taking over Big Spring Spirits for the night.
A delicious free buffet dinner and desserts will be served, and all beverages will be complimentary, with many thanks to Kevin Lloyd and Big Spring Spirits. The event will be open house style, so feel free to come and go anytime from 5:30 - 8:00 pm. No RSVP necessary.
This year, the social event will benefit Krislund Camp and celebrate and honor the core group of SCPC volunteers who worked tirelessly in the early 2000s and beyond to save and improve our beloved camp. There is no charge to attend the event, but we do invite you to donate to support the great work at Krislund. Donations can be made online at the SCPC website, using the “Krislund” category; by check anytime to SCPC with “Krislund” in the memo field; or by cash or check at the event. Suggested donation is $50 per person, but please only give as you are able - all are welcome! If you have any photos of yourself, friends, or family members volunteering at the camp, please pass them along for the running slideshow!

Scout 32 Troop Meeting

Troop 32 boys and girls troops are Scout-led, meaning that the Scouts plan and run the program, developing their leadership, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills along the way. The troops participate in monthly camping trips, an annual week-long summer camp, and high adventure trips every other year. Recent special activities include canoeing in the Algonquin region of Canada (2022), backpacking in West Virginia (2023), and a week-long bike trip along the C&O Canal (2024). -

Rooted in the ancient Christian tradition of the Desert Fathers and Mothers, Centering Prayer creates space for silent, receptive prayer. Rather than replacing other forms of prayer, it can deepen them by helping us move from active prayer into a time of simply resting in God’s presence.
No previous experience is needed. Whether Centering Prayer is already part of your spiritual practice or something you are curious to explore, you are welcome to join us.
