Scouting At SCPC
Building Character, Leadership, and Faith Through Adventure
For more than a century, State College Presbyterian Church (SCPC) has been proud to support Scouting in our community — nurturing leadership, service, and lifelong values in youth of all ages.
A Legacy of Scouting Excellence
SCPC first chartered Scouts BSA Troop 32 in 1914, making it the oldest continuously chartered troop in State College.
In 2019, we expanded our Scouting family with Troop 32G, one of the first all-girls troops in the nation.
By 2022, Cub Scout Pack 32 joined our charter to serve elementary-aged youth, ensuring Scouting opportunities for children ages 5–18 — boys and girls alike.
At SCPC, we live by the belief that “all are welcome here.” Our Scouting programs embody that value — open to all youth in our church and surrounding neighborhoods.
Troop 32 (Boys & Girls)
Both Troop 32B and Troop 32G are Scout-led, empowering youth to plan and lead their own activities while building essential skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication.
Scouts enjoy:
Monthly camping trips and outdoor adventures
Annual week-long summer camps
High-adventure expeditions every other year
Recent highlights include:
Canoeing in the Algonquin region of Canada (2022)
Backpacking in West Virginia (2023)
A bike trek along the C&O Canal (2024)
These experiences help Scouts grow in confidence, independence, and faith.
Cub Scout Pack 32
Our Cub Scout Pack 32 offers fun, hands-on experiences for younger children, focusing on character development, citizenship, leadership, and personal fitness.
Favorite traditions include:
The Pinewood Derby
Family campouts and overnight adventures
The annual Blue and Gold Banquet
Scouting for Food neighborhood service project
Recent adventures took the Cubs to Poe Paddy State Park, the State College Police Station, a bowling night, and even an overnight at the State College Spikes baseball field!
