The functions of the Education Ministry Unit include: to develop, promote, coordinate, and supervise the total Christian Education program of the church in cooperation with the Director of Christian Education and the Parish Associate, including, but not limited to:  the Sunday Church School; Vacation Bible School; Logos; FISH; Stay and Play Preschool Program; and Adult Education.

The Education Ministry Unit has three functioning committees:  Children and Youth and Adult Education which are both staffed by the Director of Christian Education and Program, and the Youth Ministry Advisory Committee.

Children and Youth Ministry:

1. Works with the Director of Christian Education in its oversight of:  Sunday Church School program, the Children and Worship and Special Sunday Music programs, Vacation Bible School, the Nursery and Toddler Room Ministry and Staff, the LOGOS and F.I.S.H. Youth programs, and the Stay and Play Child Care Programs.
2. Responsible for the identification and calling of persons to serve as care givers, teachers, and assistants for Sunday Church School, Children and Worship and Special Sunday Music programs, Vacation Bible School, and the Nursery and Toddler Rooms.  Approves staff for LOGOS, F.I.S.H., and Stay and Play staff members.
3. Selects and approves curriculum choices for Sunday Church School, LOGOS (mid-week ministry for children and youth in grades 1-8, FISH (Fellowship In Senior High youth group), Children and Worship, Vacation Bible School.
4. Advertises for, interviews, and selects paid care givers for Nursery and Toddler Rooms.
5. Provides material resources for educational programming and resource room:  including but not limited to printed materials, audio-visuals materials and equipment.  Maintains the Resource Room.
6. Evaluates Sunday Church School, Children and Worship and Sunday Music programs, Vacation Bible School, LOGOS (elementary and middle school), AND FISH (Senior high) programs, Nursery and Toddler Rooms.
7. Works with the Director of Christian Education to establish the budget and oversees expenditures.
8. Provides training and orientation to all staff in cooperation with professional staff.  Encourage in-service training and planning at all levels.  Encourage participation in locally developed training opportunities, as well as inter-church and judicatory sponsored training events.
9. Oversees the Dorothy Perkins McGeary Scholarship Fund, including advertising, interviewing applicants, and awarding scholarships once a year.

Adult Education Committee:

1.  Works with the Director of Education and Program to plan Sunday morning Adult Education programming and mid-week studies.
2. Responsible for identification and calling of leadership for programs.
3. Provides training and orientation to all staff in cooperation with professional staff.  Encourage in-service training and planning at all levels.  Encourage participation in locally developed training opportunities, as well as inter-church and judicatory sponsored training events.
4. Works with the Parish Associate to establish and oversee the Adult Education portion of the budget.

STAFF FOR THE EDUCATION MINISTRY:  Director of Education and Program ( Children and Youth Ministry, and Adult Education Committee), the Director of Youth Ministry (FISH -Fellowship In Senior High youth) and the Stay and Play Director (preschool).
