LOGOS ~ Chrysalis for grades 6-8
LOGOS is a four-part program of Christian nurture including Bible Study, Worship Skills, Recreation/Activities and Dinners for Children and Youth in Grades 1-8.
Regular LOGOS Tuesdays Start-Up September 19
SCPC's LOGOS program is a mid-week ministry for children and youth in 1st-8th grade. LOGOS Geckos is our program for 1st-5th grade and LOGOS Chrysalis is our 6th-8th grade ministry. Each Tuesday in September-April, we build multi-generational relationships between participants and church volunteers as we prepare to lead worship together, study God's Word, play together, and share a meal. All SCPC families with children of program age are encouraged to be part of this wonderful ministry. If you have questions about the program, please feel free to reach out to our program director, Keri Rounsville (814-574-5156) or Deannine Shipman (814-238-2422 ext. 213). What is Chrysalis?
Chrysalis is the middle-school segment of LOGOS (a four-part program of Christian nurture including Bible Study, Worship Skills, Recreation/Activities and Dinners for Children and Youth in Grades 1-8). The name, Chrysalis, is a nod to this changing time in a child's life. Our Program
Chrysalis incorporates the four LOGOS times into a different schedule. We're also a "youth group" in that we have a caring leadership team that stays with the group throughout the night. We start our Tuesday night with a casual singing in Gathering Time at 5:15 pm (Tower Room). At 5:35 pm, we head to Worship Skills where we prepare to be in worship leadership (about once/month). Family Time begins at 6:15 pm in the Fireside Room, with great food and play around our dinner table. The final hour of our night always involves some play (activity time) and an exploration of Christian practices (Bible Time). Our practices curriculum is based on Way to Live. |
Regular Chrysalis Schedule is Tuesdays from 5:15- 8:00 pm.
4:15 - 5:15 pm - Cocoon Time in the back of the sanctuary (homework, etc. - optional) 5:15 - 5:35 pm - Gathering Time in the Tower Room 5:35 -6:15 pm - Choir Room (upper level) for Worship Skills 6:15 - 7:00 pm - Fireside Room (lower level) for Dinner & Family Time 7:00 - 8:00 pm - Westminster Hall for Bible Time and Activity Time Middle School youth are in the LOGOS group called "Chrysalis." Middle School youth can arrive at 4:15 pm for Cocoon Time in the back of the sanctuary (doing homework and chatting), and then they will have group singing in the Tower Room from 5:15 pm-5:35 pm, and then they will start their official program time at 5:35 pm with Worship Skills in the Choir Room. Chrysalis ends at 8:00 pm. Questions? Contact Laura Essinger Hileman, Chrysalis Coordinator, to learn more! |
