Sunday Morning Programs

Picture

Our Sunday School Programs for Children and Youth Have New Names! Our children’s Sunday School classes will now be known as PATHWAYS and Youth Sunday School is now known as THE OASIS!
  • PATHWAYS  (Preschool and Elementary) will begin on September 11th, in separate age groups, and will begin around 10:00 am
  • 3’s,4’s, and K will meet in Room 103, main level - we will provide a light snack to our pre schoolers
  • 1st– 5th Grade will meet upstairs in Room 210
  • Once a month we will combine all children for a special MUSIC experience with our own Ned Wetherald.
  • We will still have Creative Movement & Music and Children and Worship during the 9:00 am worship hour after the children’s message, but need leaders for the C&W class in order to begin

THE OASIS
  • THE OASIS (grades 6-12) will meet in the Fireside Room at 10:15 am each Sunday, with both Middle School and High School ages together until the group grows too large!

The State College Presbyterian Church wants to partner with parents to nurture your child's faith!  At SCPC we have many programs for children -- for preschool ages on up.  Click on the sub-menus to the right to learn more about opportunities for children.  If you don't see what you are looking for, just ask! (contact Deannine Shipman, Director of Education and Program, 814-238-2422).  Our mid-week ministries are listed on additional pages.

Sunday School Classes
Each Sunday we offer classes for Preschoolers through High School students.  We are presently using the PCUSA curriculum "Growing in Grace & Gratitude" with Pre Schoolers, and  for our children up through Grade 5.  Children, youth, and teachers are always on a faith adventure as they learn about the Bible and our faith traditions in the Presbyterian Church. Together they will read Bible stories based on Scripture that reveal God's grace.

For more information on our curriculum:  growinggracegratitude.org

Our middle school and high school students study varied topics of faith issues, the Bible, and the Presbyterian Church.  They are also using PCUSA curriculum for youth which is called Follow Me.  This curriculum is centered around Biblical practices for Faithful Living.

Children/Youth must be the age of the class listed by September1st (or in that grade) to be in that class.  Any questions or concerns may be addressed to Patt Campolongo  (SS Superintendent), or to Deannine Shipman (Director of Education and Program).

Children who go to a program such as Creative Movement and Music, or Children and Worship (see below) will go to their program following the Children's Message during the 9:00 am worship service, and finish when worship is over at 10:00 am.

Special Programs for Children ages 3-5 (Creative Movement and Music ) and 1st and 2nd grade (Children in Worship) are available following the Children's Message during the worship service.

Any questions or concerns may be addressed to Patt Campolongo (Sunday School Superintendent), or to Deannine Shipman (Director of Education and Program - 238-2422).

Creative Movement and Music
Our pre-school aged children (ages 3 - 5) are  invited to join with music leaders, Ellen Rom, Kate Woodruff, and Elizabeth Richardson in Westminster Hall for a time of music, movement, and fun! This program begins following the Children’s Message  during the worship service.

This program is designed for children who are already 3 years old by September 1st of each year.  Children turning 3 years old during the school year should wait until next Fall to join Creative Movement and Music and Sunday School.
(Note:  Our Toddler Room is designed for ages 2 and 3.)

Children and Worship Class - Uses Godly Play Curriculum
Our Children & Worship program will meet if we have leaders for the program. This program is for 1st and 2nd graders who choose not to stay in the worship service. They meet downstairs in room 11 following the Children’s  Message during the 9:00 am worship service. This program concludes at the same time worship ends (at approximately 10:00 am).
