Sunday Morning Programs
Sunday School meets at 9:00 - 9:45 am
Pre School, Elementary, Youth and Adults will all have a class! We are offering two multi-age Sunday School classes... if we have enough people to teach each week. The 3's, 4's, and Kindergarten age will combine in Room 209 with two teachers and there will be an air purifier in there. The 1st - 5th Graders will combine in Room 210 with two teachers. It is our largest room and has an air purifier. We will keep doors open, and everyone must wear a mask. Creative Movement & Music AND Children & Worship classes will be held as usual following the Children's Message during the worship hour (which is now 10:15 - 11:15 am) Middle School and High School youth will meet together in the Fireside Room. While we have 2 permanent teachers for each of the youth classes, we could use more. Please speak up to any of them or to me if you are willing. They have curriculum provided. The Pre School and Elementary Classes will be taught by rotating volunteers for the Fall and so I have a sign up linked to the email, but listed in the flyer version you will get in the mail. The link will be on our website as well. As you can guess, we could really use your help in having enough volunteers to even have Sunday School ! Curriculum is provided and will be mailed out to folks in advance. A copy will be in the children's rooms as well. We are hoping to get volunteer teachers on a weekly basis, and have created a SIGN UP to do that! If you are willing to lead, and have taught at our church before, please sign up! If you are new, and want to sign up, give Deannine Shipman a call at church first so you know what the safety procedures are! Here is the link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0448a5af29aa8-fall Deannine will send a weekly email with lessons and activities for parents who are not choosing to come back in person yet. If you are not getting those emails, please let the church office know! Sometimes this will be ideas for family discussion, readings, and devotions, while other times there might be some videos (You Tube) ! We hope that some of our families might be willing to help make some of these videos and share them! LOGOS is planning to continue IN PERSON programs this winter/spring. Details about this program are available on our Mid-Week ministries pages for Children and Youth. Go to our Mid-Week Ministries for Children and Youth pages to see the details. FISH, our Sr. High group, has also started up with very different plans, but hoping to keep our youth connected in some way! See the FISH pages for details. Our NORMAL Programs ~
The State College Presbyterian Church wants to partner with parents to nurture your child's faith! At SCPC we have many programs for children -- for preschool ages on up. Click on the sub-menus to the right to learn more about opportunities for children. If you don't see what you are looking for, just ask! (contact Deannine Shipman, Director of Education and Program, 814-238-2422). Our mid-week ministries are listed on additional pages. Sunday School Classes Each Sunday we offer classes for Preschoolers through High School students. We are presently using the PCUSA curriculum "Growing in Grace & Gratitude" with Pre Schoolers, and for our children up through Grade 5. Children, youth, and teachers are always on a faith adventure as they learn about the Bible and our faith traditions in the Presbyterian Church. Together they will read Bible stories based on Scripture that reveal God's grace. For more information on our curriculum: growinggracegratitude.org Our middle school and high school students study varied topics of faith issues, the Bible, and the Presbyterian Church. They are also using PCUSA curriculum for youth which is called Follow Me. This curriculum is centered around Biblical practices for Faithful Living. Children/Youth must be the age of the class listed by September1st (or in that grade) to be in that class. Any questions or concerns may be addressed to Patt Campolongo (SS Superintendent), or to Deannine Shipman (Director of Education and Program). Listed below are the NORMAL rooms for all of our children and youth classes. ALL are WELCOME! Classes may be broadly graded this fall because of lower attendance do to COVID. We will update as we know more.
