Join our Church Family!
God abounds in love and mercy and welcomes us into the fellowship of the church, for in Christ, we have friends in faith who help us to grow in love and service. Here at State College Presbyterian Church, we would love to have you be a part of our ministry and to join us as a member of Christ's body.
If you are feeling led to become a member, please contact our Membership and Program Associate and we will arrange a time to tell you more about our church, share how we seek to live in faith, and answer any questions you might have.
About Us ~
State College Presbyterian Church is a warm, diverse, dynamic faith community with people of all ages and generations coming together to learn, serve and worship together
In response to God’s unconditional love and Jesus’ example of hospitality, State College Presbyterian Church is called to be a welcoming community. We affirm all people equally, regardless of, for example, race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, capability, religious background, or circumstance of life. We are committed to removing barriers that separate us. As we gather in worship, fellowship and service, all are welcome.

Explore 2021 Update ~ Special May 16th OUTDOOR Worship Service
In 2017, after much research and discernment on faith formation, we felt led to replace the traditional “Confirmation Class” program with “Explore.” Intentionally choosing to move the focus away from what a Christian should know or the goal of becoming a member, Explore focuses on building strong youth/ elder relationships in which both share life and explore what it means to be a Jesus follower and live a life of faith in the real world.
This year, “Explore” has been blessed with nine youth and their adult mentor partners. Together we have wrestled with not only our faith, but also how to do it during a pandemic that demands apartness. With lots of Zoom calls, masks and distanced weekly partner meetings it has been a privilege to see both students and adults grow together through… or perhaps because of the extra effort to takes to be together this year.
On Sunday, May 16 at 10:00 am worship will be held outdoors at SCPC (allowing for larger numbers). You are invited to join us to hear from and praise God for these youth and their mentors.
Please bring your own chairs and masks. In the case of bad weather we will cancel this service by sending out an early morning e-mail and reschedule for later in the week.
Explore Youth joining the church on May 16 are: Carly Erickson, Catherine Frank, Lilly Frank, Sam Ikenberry, Olivia Mortimore, Jillian Rounsville, Elijah Snyder, Jakob Stafford, and Ethan Warner.
Summer Worship Plans ~ Including more Worshipers
During the pandemic we have offered worship services online and for much of the time in-person on a very limited basis. The Session feels it is time to time to re-gather as a congregation now that almost all of members age 16 and above have received their vaccinations or will do so soon. Acting on a recommendation from the Worship Committee and our Medical Advisory Team, Sunday June 13 is our target date to welcome to the sanctuary all who wish to be in worship with no reservations required.
We will still observe a number of precautions for our in-person services: masks required, no hugging :-( or hand shaking, no passing of offering plates or bulletins, and worshipers will be asked to maintain a respectful distance from others. Air exchange in the sanctuary is provided by a strong attic fan, pulling a steady breeze through open doors and windows. The service will generally not last more than thirty or forty minutes for the first couple of weeks. We will not have a ‘children’s time’ in the service during June but will consider bringing that back later in the summer. Also, child care will not be available initially. We know there will be many folks who don’t quite feel ready to participate, so although we will no longer be offering our pre-recorded service, we will be livestreaming the Sunday service via our YouTube channel.
Finally, the Deacons will be providing an outside fellowship time following our Sunday morning services so that folks can enjoy some good conversation with church friends.
