We are worshiping with no restriction on numbers and no reservations necessary.  You can live-stream the worship service at 10:15 am (and it will remain available to view after the service)  on our YouTube channel (State College Presbyterian Church). There is a sermon, music, readings,  and prayers - for those on on our email list, watch for an email on Saturday with the link.  Contact Martha if you wish to be added to that list.

Praying Together ~ Wherever You Are!
We are living through a time of great change, in our congregation and in our world. Our list of prayer concerns is long and deep. For the month of June, The Spiritual Life Ministry Unit of the Session is inviting you to join us in prayer every Thursday at noon. Regardless of where you are, we are encouraging you to spend 5-10 minutes in prayer.

As a starting point, we suggest using the prayer list in the church’s weekly email blast. Knowing that others are praying at the same time, strengthens all of us. Please consider setting your own alarm for your personal call to prayer, every Thursday in June at noon.

Call for Nominations for Church Officers
The Nominating Committee is charged with the task of preparing a list of candidates to serve as Elders, Deacons, Visitation Deacons, and members of the Nominating Committee. The list of candidates will be presented to the congregation at large for election in November.

The Nominating Committee welcomes your input in preparing the list of candidates. Please identify a member(s) of the congregation whom you think would be a valuable addition to one of the Boards or the Committee, Please click here to fill out an online form, send us an email or give us a call at 814-238-2422.

Elders working together as a Session form the ruling body of a Presbyterian church. They are chosen by the congregation to discern and measure its fidelity to the Word of God, and to strengthen and nurture its faith and life.

The ministry of Deacons is one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ for the poor, the hungry, the sick, the lonely, or anyone in distress.

If you would like more information, contact any member of the Nominating Committee: Anne Layng, Jenny Van Hook, Sharon Manno, Katherine Allen, Sharon Ambrose, Jamie Bauman, Brian Ladrido, Blair Malcom, and Allison Maus. (ex officio).

SCPC Hosts Out of The Cold June 27 - July 10
We welcome 25 Out of the Cold guests on Monday evening, June 27. They will stay with us from 8PM to 7:30AM for two weeks, using the Social Hall, Westminster Hall, Room 11, and the lower floor bathrooms. As we enter these busy weeks, we pray:

God, bless this building, that all who step inside will know the safety and love that we may find in you.

God, bless our hearts, that they may spring doors and windows where we have sometimes built walls.

God, bless our eyes and minds, that we may see seeds, sprouts, and abundant gardens of community, wherever we look.

Jesus, guide us, and give us courage to welcome your holy discomfort, and to recognize your gifts in ourselves and in one another.

Many, many thanks to all who have volunteered to plan, set up, cook, visit, clean, and serve!

If you'd rather not lead a hike, you can just come and enjoy. Generally hikes will be 2-3 hours (9:00 am start).  So that all can participate, hikes will be easy to moderate (not difficult or too rocky).  Please join us!

Interim Pastor Search Committee
On behalf of the Session and its Personnel Ministry Unit, an Interim Pastor Search Committee has begun its work to find an interim pastor who will be able to lead our congregation following the departure of Rev. Lindsey.  An interim pastor helps to guide a congregation through a period of transition.  Already the search committee has received several resumes and will be interviewing candidates.  Members of the committee are Jennifer Creighton, Richard Page, Brady Wassom, Amy Elliott, and Meg Meloy.  We pray for the work of the committee as it seeks the guidance of the Holy Spirit in this important search process.

Summer Sunday School 2022 Meets Sunday Mornings Following the Children's Message
NO Summer Sunday School on July 3rd!

June 12, 19, 26
July 10, 17, 24, 31
August 7, 14
WE plan on learning and having fun this summer with several different topics!

Each Sunday will bring us a new book and a new adventure!  Different folks in our congregation will help lead/teach our broadly graded Summer Sunday School class in our decorated Room 10.

What are some of YOUR favorite books?  Maybe we will be re-telling some of those stories?

During the summer Worship service (10:15am) , and after the children’s message in ROOM 10, lower level.
All children ages 4 – 3rd Grade are welcome to attend!

Volunteers are needed to tell stories and lead crafts!  Deannine has lots of book choices in her office, or volunteers can suggest one of their own!

Coffee Hour Volunteer Request
As our church in-person attendance expands and more of our community is comfortable participating in the coffee hour, either in the social hall or in adult education classes, there’s a need for more volunteers to support the serving of drinks and snacks. Yes, there’s some early preparation and cleanup afterwards. However, there is also a sense of offering hospitality and getting to know and enjoy the company of others while actively supporting our church. In fact, it’s fun!  The host is experienced and will direct and instruct the assistants.

If you’re interested in being one of these volunteers, you may
click here to sign up on the Signup Genius. Please consider such an activity a few times each year, or more if so inclined.  It can’t happen without the efforts of many. And, know that the responsibilities are limited in the time involved and the benefits are both for the community and for the individual volunteer.
Signup for a slot today!

Thank you,
The Deacons

If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Manno.
